Criteria for Certification for Conservation Planning

The 1985 and subsequent Farm Bills require NRCS to certify all planners who deliver conservation planning technical assistance to participants in NRCS programs.  Wisconsin policy for conservation planner certification is contained in Wisconsin Amendment to the General Manual, WI-2.

WI 180-GM Part 409 establishes the following certification criteria:

  • Part 409.9 - Certified Conservation Planner
  • Part 409.10 - Certified Comprehensive Nutrient Management Planner
  • Part 409.11 - Certified Pest Management Planner
  • Part 409.12 - Certified Prescribed/Managed Grazing Planner
  • Part 409.13 - Certified Wetland ID and/or Wetland Mitigation/Restoration Planner
  • Part 409.14 - Task Specific Certifications

  • Technical Service Providers should use TechReg, the national certification system to certify their credentials in specific TSP categories. The Wisconsin amendment WI-2 does not apply to Technical Service Providers.
