Wisconsin NRCS Energy Objectives
Wisconsin NRCS proposes six
primary objectives for its role
in the rapidly growing and
evolving renewable energy
industry, as it relates to
agriculture and conservation.
Objective 1: Provide assistance to agricultural producers adjusting their
rotations, tillage practices, and harvest of current crops with the goal of
maintaining or improving soil, air, and water quality, as well as wildlife
habitat.
Objective 2: Provide assistance for the proper siting, construction,
storage, establishment, sustainable management, of biogas facilities and
future bioenergy crops such as native grasses and forbs, woody biomass, etc.
Objective 3: Increase NRCS employee and public knowledge of biofuel
terminology, technology, predicted future trends, resource conservation
opportunities, and NRCS efforts in this area.
Objective 4: Utilize and modify current NRCS programs and standards to
improve and reward proper stewardship and conservation of resources, including
energy, soil, water, air, wildlife, etc.
Objective 5: Build partnerships with organizations involved in energy
conservation and renewable energy production.
