2009 UW-Platteville 43rd Annual Land Judging Competition

261 high school students from 22 Wisconsin schools participated in the 43rd Annual UW-Platteville Land Judging Competition. The UW-Platteville Soil Conservation/Agronomy student chapter and the UW-Platteville School of Agriculture sponsored the event.

In the contest, students evaluated four sites. Each student described soil and landscape features, rated the land capability class, noted major limitations for land use, and made recommendations for conservation practices. Students were scored based on agreement between their evaluations and those of official contest judges. Judges included local Land Conservation and Natural Resources Conservation Service professionals and professors from UW-Platteville.
